2 Weeks

In two weeks we have: flown to Hawaii, adjusted to the time zone change, had a meeting with the housing office, looked at 4 houses, signed a lease, started a new job, been to a party, picked up two cars from the port, safety checked two cars, registered one car with DMV, met with two schools, admission tested for two schools (yes, Emily had to pass a test too), been accepted to two schools, paid for two schools, moved twice, found a new place to live for the next 5-6 weeks, will move twice more, been to the pool 7 times, beach 4, Sea Life Park once, watched 2 hula shows, and finished 4 bottles of wine and one bottle of scotch.

I don't think I can take the "Island" lifestyle much longer :) Happy to report we are leaving our bug infested dump for a 3 br. furnished rental in Kailua tomorrow. Here we come Kailua beach!

Next week: Register car 2, get base stickers for both cars, buy school uniforms, cancel 4 various hotel reservations I no longer need, attend two school orientations, and that's just what I know about as of now...At least no moving!

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Happy Birthday to my Dad, glad we got to share some good food and some nice cool weather at Disney to celebrate!

We have relocated to our dump...ahem...I mean temporary lodging as of yesterday. No kitchen (little microwave and little fridge) but we are trying to make the most of it with soup and sandwiches. I think it's going to be a long 6 weeks but we are keeping our eye on the prize.

Alooooooooha

I can't believe we have been here almost a week! So much has gone on that it feels more like months. We are coming to the end of our stay in a great hotel in beautiful Waikiki and the girls are getting their fill of the beach and pool scene. Despite the sun screen they are getting very brown very fast!

We met with the housing liaison on Monday and were happy to be offered 4 housing choices (that is not the usual experience...guess 22 years is finally paying off). It was a tough decision as one was an historic house with a great view of the Arizona Memorial but very small with some storage issues. The one we chose lacks the breathtaking view but is newly renovated (still working on it) 2900 sq. ft, 2 car car-port, HUGE playground across the street, and in a wonderful neighborhood full of kids, pools etc. I think we will be very happy there.

In the mean time, we will be relocating on Monday to Hickam AFB to a 2 br. apt until late August when the house is ready. Next week I have to finalize the schools for the girls as they start Aug. 3rd! I didn't love the look of Olivia's school when we drove by but have been assured by many that it is a good place.

Hope that brings you up to date with our crazy move - we got my car yesterday and are going to get David's this afternoon. David has started work and already needs to start working weekends :) (Old SWO joke for my Navy friends). Can't wait to share my photos with you.

Almost "Home"

Well, our time in Florida is almost over - we have even survived Disney! We spent 4 days there over the 4th of July holiday and I must say I have never been hotter in my entire life. I would guess it was close to 100 every day with 100% humidity. We managed to have a good time, saw lots of Princesses, rode many fun rides and went to all the good shows including fireworks over Cinderella's castle on the 4th with about a million of our closest friends (no kidding)! I can't wait to be able to download my pictures and show them to you.

We are anxious to get moving to Hawaii (we leave on the 10th) and see what's in store for us there. In the mean time - a very happy birthday to Grandma Hughes today and to Aunt Kathy a few days late. Hope it's a great day!

Updates

Nothing fun like pictures for my next few posts - I am taking plenty but don't have a way to get them downloaded to the laptop at the moment! Just letting you all know we are down to our last move (tomorrow) and then off to Florida on Saturday night. This is the part that gets hard for me, so much stuff and such little space to put it all in, trying to be prepared for everything and anything that just might come our way for the next few months, and keeping a smile on my face. Thankfully we have good friends and family who are helping and taking care of things as best they can. Doesn't feel much like paradise to me right now but it will right?

Next stop...Disney!

Happy Father's Day!

Wishing all the Dad's (especially mine and David's) a happy day today. We are all where we are today because of the great foundation provided to us by our parents. post signature

Blogging on Moving Day!!??

Can you believe I am blogging today? That either means the move is going really well or I am totally out of my mind...you choose! Actually the move IS going well, 2 nice gentlemen showed up at 7:30 am and have nearly finished 2 floors at 1 pm. They think they will finish tonight and start loading tomorrow which is a day ahead of schedule. They were very impressed with our level of organization (not that anyone of you would be surprised by that) which only cost us a few late nights!

Here are some photos below of our great Sunday at Cush and Cathleens house enjoying their awesome pool and view. Makes me want to move someplace sunny where we can swim :)

One Month and Counting!

Like my new look? I know you're wondering...where does she find the time? What a woman...she's in the middle of a move, end of school activities, and has the swine flu - how does she do it?

I don't. While I was busy separating my house into piles and sucking down motrin by the bottle, my dear friends conspired together and graciously gave me a "blogover" to celebrate our soon to be new address! I love it. Many thanks Tiffany and Rebecca.

The movers (one of three anyway) came and went today so at least 1000lbs of my junk is on its merry way to Paradise. Cars go this weekend and the "big move" starts Wednesday. Let's hope by then my body figures out I am way to busy for this silly sickness thing and it moves on.

Way to go Olivia

Olivia was chosen by her classmates to be represented in the Silverbrook Art Gala. 300 of the 1200 students in her school were chosen and had their art showcased tonight.

She also had her last Girl Scout meeting today where the girls were awarded their final badges that they earned throughout the year.

She's so cute! Olivia is a good student, Scout, artist and soccer player. We are really very proud of the girl she has become.
Oh yeah, Happy Birthday Uncle Maddy!!
Hope you heard our melodic message :)
