Manoa Falls

So, New Year's Eve was just about perfect.  I chatted with a few besties to start the day, David was home early, we had a great dinner and watched a family movie.  (Dolphin Tale 2 which made Emily cry but what doesn't?  It was very cute)

In bed by 10:00 pm.  Perfect.  Happy New Year to me!  As you know, I wasn't a big fan of 2014 overall so I'm plenty ready to move on.

FYI, Hawaiian's love their fireworks. Really.  There is nothing quite like New Years at midnight in Hawaii.  Actually it starts about 9:00 pm and continues until about 1:00 am.

So in spite of being in bed at 10, there was no sleeping.  At midnight I decided to take a peak (since I was up) and I'm glad I did.  It was beautiful - fireworks were close, medium and far away over Waikiki.  I actually woke up Emily to see them.  Olivia was awake and taking videos :)

It was pretty special and I really am looking forward to enjoying and appreciating the fruits of our labors this year.

New Year's Day was equally beautiful and just so happens in these lovely mountains around us are about 18 fantastic hiking trails.  Bout time we tried one!

We chose Manoa Falls, a fairly easy and quick hike.

Doesn't that look like an iguana coming to eat me?

Bamboo

And finally the falls!

Here's to 2015!
