IT'S MAY!!

This is gonna be a busy month folks...chock full of good stuff (and by that I mean graduation and all the many moving parts that come with it)  Figured I better update the April happenings first...

Prom!!  And may I be the first to say how nicely she cleans up.

This young man didn't do so badly himself!

They had a great time and it was a really nice day of dressing, hair(ing) and laughing

Fast forward about 12 hours and it was Easter!

Not a whole lot of sleep for these two, but they were back together looking sharp again for sunrise service!

And sailing season...

Not a very photo friendly event since they sail too far out in the open ocean, but my friend who coaches another team captured these of Olivia sailing past the Baldwin family yacht.    Not a great season for MidPac this year, but they had fun and hey, it's never a bad day if you are on the water!

And Emily has been busy with her music.  She was nominated for the Oahu Honor Band which is a selected band made up of students from all over the island.  They practice together every weekend for month and then have a concert.

It's a great opportunity to work with other directors and kids.  Our Holy Family team had a great time!  They really sounded amazing.

She was super proud

She absolutely adores her band director and just found out Thursday she is leaving the island due to military orders for her husband.  The kids are feeling devastated at the moment, but she has instilled in them a brave spirit and a love for music that will carry them along.  Change is hard.

But...being the awesome sauce teacher that she is, she used her connections to get Emily a private lesson with on of the Hawaii Symphony players, and they hit it off big time!  They are going to continue lessons over the summer :)

And now we are in May which always starts with a May Day celebration at school.  It's a big production but lots of fun and Emily's class did a traditional Samoan slap dance (see my video on FB)

She has had a great 6th grade year.  Her class is known for it's kindness and friendliness.  They are a very nice bunch!

This weekend is Olivia's big hula show followed by Emily's Spring Band concert next week.  Sports banquet, Senior parent reception at Midpac, Mother's Day, Grandpa coming to visit, finals, Baccalaureate service, graduation, last day of school and who knows what else.  It's all good stuff, just trying to savor all the moments!
